No Bike? No Problem! Hire a bike! Enjoy the beautiful scenery the Southern Coromandel has to offer! 



Right on the doorstep of Shunters Cottage this authentic railway runs daily year round. Bike there, train back, sounds good!

Located in Waihi's historic Technical School, the Museum and Art Gallery are open throughout the year as a perfect introduction into local history and culture.

If golf is more your style, a short drive from Shunters Cottage is the Waihi Golf Club. Casual players are welcomed with gear hire available.

Pit Rim Walkway



Starting at the top of Waihi's main street this easy walk gives you a 360 degree view of the open cast mine and boasts impressive views along the way. 


Windows Walk



Considered one of the highlights, take a torch to this walk and explore the tunnels and old mine workings. Excellent on a hot day!

 Waihi Pumphouse



Sitting dramatically next to the Waihi open cast mine pit, this giant concrete building was moved on rails to its current location.
